Today, a friend send me a photo of a Vietnam 500,000 dong (VND) according to him is a souvenir banknote printed to give to officers, employees and senior officials on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the National Money Printing Factory (22/4/1991-22/4/2016).
According to him, the Vietnam 500,000 dong banknote size is 25cm x 55cm, a bit larger then Malaysia 600 Ringgit banknote 22cm x 37cm.
When I search the internet, the latest news about commemorative banknote issued by Vietnam is only a 100-dong 65th anniversary of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) commemorative banknote. The 100-dong 65 years SBV banknote have no legal tender value.
Search across all popular blogs about banknotes, I cannot find any news about the 500,000 dong commemorative banknote. This banknote maybe issued by Vietnam Central Bank and like 100-dong 65 years SBV banknote, the banknote most probably a non legal tender banknote.
The only place you can find Vietnam 500,000 dong commemorative banknote is on ebay.
The 500,000 dong commemorative banknote also have less security features compare to Malaysia 600 Ringgit and a uniface banknote.
For those who say that Malaysia 600 Ringgit banknote is not legal tender because Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) press release don't stated anything about the banknote as legal tender, look at your banknote "Wang ini Sah diperlakukan dengan Nilai".
New Malaysia RM600 banknote can break Guiness record, if BNM or the banknote printer will apply to Guiness Book of world Records for the new RM600 Merdeka banknote to be the new World largest legal tender banknote.
