Old Malaysia silver coin are still cheap

Yesterday, when I visit Amcorp Mall flea market, a girl friend who also my blog reader ask me, "What are you trying to say in your Enggang Seladang coins post ya? Do you want to tell everyone that you won a bet?"

I told her, please read carefully, there are some message that I want to share in there and I will try to explain it in my next post. She try to guess it so many times but she still cannot understand what I am trying to say in that post. Maybe because she is not a true collector yet or she only focusing her taught about the betting between me and my friend.

Here are what I am trying to say in that post.

1. If you have option, don't just look at one coin dealer.
Sometimes collector are became lazy, some of you intend to stick to one coin dealer for a very long time. My friend is staying in Klang Valley, he have so many option of coin dealer around him but he stick to that same dealer for over 4 years.

Many of us (me & other friends) knew that the dealer always selling low quality item at a very high price and claim that his item condition is one grade up. We already told him but he don't want to listen because they're "good friend".

Some coin dealer are just want to do business with you, if you give them good business, you can be their good friend. If you stick to the same dealer, you don't know if other dealers give a better price then your current coin dealer.

Sometimes, you need to look at other option that some collector have not think yet, like getting your coins from a Malaysia Silver Bullion Dealer. Some people do offer them silver coins because they don't know the market price of the coins.

2. Market price cannot just depend on hearsay.
You can read blogs, books or what people share with you in social media but the best way to know what is the market price of some item is go look around yourself. Book as many collector know is just a guide between buyer and seller.

The market price can be going up and down because of many thing. Sometimes you can see some people dump so many thing in one time, the price will be dropping for a while and then it goes up again when all stock has been bought by collector.

In the Enggang Seladang coins case, I think what my friend heard is about the proof coin but when the story came to him, it already change to normal silver coin. Go to coin dealer or flea market yourself to learn about Malaysia coin market price.

3. Some old Malaysia Silver coins are still cheap.
I think I already told everyone so many time in my blog, buy your item when they're still cheap. Like this Enggang & Seladang coins, they're minted in 1976 but still have a very low price because of the high mintage.

Looking at the trend now, they're increasing interest on Malaysian to join coin collecting. One day all these silver coins will be missing from market because of the low price. Many new collectors still cannot see these because they're more interested on prefix and keydates Malaysia coins.

When everyone realize that they're still cheap old silver coins in Malaysia numismatic, the coins will start to vanish from market. Do you remember about Malaysia coin card? Long time ago, people are just selling it for RM12 to RM20 but no one want to buy them. Look at them now, most collector in Malaysia are coin card crazy.

Hopefully everyone can understand what I am trying to say in that post by now.
