2013 50 years of Surfing Australia 50c coin

On 4th September 2012, Royal Australian Mint has released 2013 50c 50 Years of Surfing Australia Uncirculated Coin in partnership with Surfing Australia to commemorate its 50th Anniversary. Surfing Australia was established in 1963 as the Australian Surfriders Association. The uncirculated Copper-nickel coins are each packaged with their own unique surfboard shaped coin holder. The holder features an image of five-time World Champion Stephanie Gilmore. The coin is available for sale at Royal Australia Mint website (www.ramint.gov.au) for AUS$9.

The coin reverse show a man surfing with words "FIFTY YEARS OF SURFING AUSTRALIA" and the coin value 50c.

The official launch of Surfing Australia's 50th Year Anniversary will be held on 21st November at the Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club in Sydney in commemoration of the day when Duke Kahanamoku introduced surfboard riding to Australia at Freshwater Beach in 1915.
