Green RM2 Ali Abul banknote in Spink Auction

Have you seen a green RM2 banknote signed by Ali Abul Hassan? The colour trial 2 ringgit will be offered by Spink in their Banknotes, Bonds and Shares, Coins and Medals of South East Asia sale in Singapore next Sunday, 16th August 2015. Spink have put together a 500 lot sale of banknotes, with some bonds and share certificates, coins and medals for the sale.

Green RM2

Lot:237. Bank Negara Malaysia, colour trial 2 ringgit, ND (1999), serial number CB0000000, green and brown on multicolour underprint, Tuanka Abdul Rahman at right, value at low centre, reverse with telecoms tower and satellite at left, map of Malaysia below (Pick 40ct, LNZ BNM B40ct), an unusual colour choice, especially on the reverse where the ocean is pink, uncirculated and rare. Estimate SG$1,000 to SG$1,500.

The Banknotes, Bonds and Shares, Coins and Medals of South East Asia is one of the Spink sale during the International World Stamp Exhibition to be held in Singapore on the 14th - 19th August 2015.

On 15th of August, Spink will launch the long-awaited Frank Goon Collection of Banknotes of British Malaya (2nd edition). Published by Spink, the 2nd edition is a masterpiece and a testament to a lifetime of banknote collecting. This is the first volume in the Spink 'Connoisseur' Series, a must for any collector of the Straits Settlement area and a seminal reference piece.

Spink has brought together many items of the highest quality and calibre in the Banknotes, Bonds and Shares, Coins and Medals of South East Asia sale. The sale packed with colour trials, composite essays, die proofs and specimens banknotes from around Asia.

Government of the Straits Settlements, complete stage proofs for $1, ND (1930), including obverse and reverse die proofs, with three underprint stages, all on separate sheets, obverse blue, George V at right, reverse green, Tiger at centre, ink annotations on each, with date "AUG. 30th 30". (Pick 16 for type, LNZ GSS B21 for type), a few minor repaired edge tears, all with mounting traces on reverse, each sheet extremely fine or better, extremely rare and probably unique (5). Estimate SG$5,000 to SG$7,000.

(Pick 17 for type, LNZ GSS B22 for type), a few minor repaired edge tears, all with mounting traces on reverse, each sheet extremely fine or better, extremely rare and probably unique (5). Estimate SG$6,000 to SG$8,000.
