1,000,000 Chinese coins has been graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®), the first third-party coin grading service to certify more than 1,000,000 Chinese coins. This important milestone was reached during NGC’s recent on-site grading event at its office in Shanghai, China.
NGC has had a presence in China since 2008 when it opened an Official Submission Center in Guangzhou, becoming the first international coin grading service to operate within the country. Two years later NGC began to grade and encapsulate coins in China—another first for an international coin grading service—and has since held on-site grading events in Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing.
As demand for its on-site grading services in China increased, NGC opened an office in Shanghai in November 2013. It quickly outgrew that office and in July 2015 NGC opened a new, larger office in the prestigious Xintiandi District of Shanghai.
NGC’s Shanghai office is operated by NGC Shanghai Business Information Consulting Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of NGC in China. The office hosts frequent NGC on-site grading events as well as on-site professional coin conservation by Numismatic Conservation Services (NCS) and on-site paper money grading by Paper Money Guaranty (PMG). NGC, NCS and PMG are independent members of the Certified Collectibles Group (CCG).
