The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies Gold Coin

To commemorate The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies film, New Zealand Post has created official legal tender coins from Middle-earth; The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies Premium Gold Coin. The 1oz 0.9999 gold proof coin have a very low worldwide mintage of just 500. The coin is New Zealand legal tender and came with individually numbered certificate.

The Hobbit

The coin reverse design features the eponymous Hobbit Bilbo Baggins and the mighty Dragon Smaug, amidst the treasure inside the halls of the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor under the Lonely Mountain. The coin obverse show portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, United Kingdom.
