On August 30, Public Gold has announced that a private company, Royal East Ptd Ltd has appointed Public Gold Marketing Sdn Bhd to Mint a coins (a medal since it is not legal tender) called Anak Malaysia. The medal is adopted from the bronze statue series created by Malaysian contemporary artist, Ch’ng Huck Theng. Royal East Ptd Ltd, an Australian company specialising in the preservation of international art and culture.
Only 188 sets of the coins will be minted and marketed by Public Gold, as well as the artist’s own company CHT Network. The silver coins, featuring the three bronze characters on one side and a map of Malaysia on the other, will be sold at RM950 per set.
The history of these Anak Malaysia sculpture series began in 2012, when Ch’ng created an abstract of three bronze figures depicting a true representation of the multiracial, multicultural and multi-religious people of Malaysia. These sculptures were also made to symbolise cohesiveness and harmony of the Malaysian society.
Public Gold group chairman Datuk Louis Ng said the Anak Malaysia bronze sculptures series portrays the harmony of multiracial Malaysia.
