1968 Keeling Cocos Islands Tokens in Monetarium Auction

A complete set of 1968 Keeling Cocos Islands Tokens will be offered in MONETARIUM AUCTION 14 on Oct 25th, an auction by Monetarium (Singapore) Private Limited. One of the earliest plastic token ever exist is estimate to sell for SGD3,000. All the tokens are in Choice UNC. The 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 cents and 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 Rupees were issued by John Clunies Ross, the last Governor of the Cocos Keeling Islands. The Territory of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, also called Cocos Islands and Keeling Islands, is a territory of Australia, located in the Indian Ocean, southwest of Christmas Island and approximately midway between Australia and Sri Lanka. The plastic tokens were used as payment of wages to employee of the Clunies-Ross estate.

Ringgit Commemorative

Another coin that might be an interest for Malaysia coin collectors is the Malaysia Ringgit Commemorative Specimen set (1969-1977). The Lot 44 only describe as "MALAYSIA - MODERNCu-Ni: Complete 7 pieces RM1 commemorative specimen set issued during the period 1969-1977 for circulation in Malaysia. In folder of issue." The only picture shown in the auction is the Folder title with a blue background. I only have seen a RM1 folder set by International Stamp & Coin Sdn Bhd in a white color folder. The RM1 commemorative coin set is estimate to sell for SGD200.

1976 gold coin

In lot 38, a Malaysia RM500 Cipan (Malayan Tapir) Conservation Non-Proof 1976 gold coin (KM 21) graded NGC MS68 is estimate to sell for SGD7,000. On 25 October 2012, A Proof Cipan gold coin sold for a record price SD6400 by Monetarium Auction. The Malaysia RM500 Cipan (Malayan Tapir) Conservation Proof 1976 gold coin (KN6) graded PCGS PR69 DCAM is still The Most Expensive Malaysia Commemorative coin sold in auction.
