Unique 1804 Duit Ayam Proof coin in Monetarium Auction 12

A very rare and unique 1804 Duit Ayam Proof coin will be auction in Monetarium Auction 12; Coin, Banknotes, Jade, Porcelin, Stamps, etc at Peninsular Excelsior Hotel, Singapore on 26 October 2013. The Singapore Modern issue Copper 1 cent 1804 (SS 22, P 17) NGC Proof Unique is an ex collection of exiled Egyptian King Farouk's coin collection. The coin estimate price is between SGD60,000 - SGD80,000.

susu token

According to Saran Singh book, The Encyclopaedia of the Coins of Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei, 1400-1986, The Susu one cent 1804 tokens were issued by a rebel chief, Lebai Dapa, who ruled over the area around the port of Susu (The Jawi word on the coin-SUSU) in Sumatera. These susu tokens are the prototypes for the later fighting cock tokens ( duit ayam) which were issued by the Singapore Merchants.
