Yesterday, The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) released their 47 years Singapore National Day Commemorative Coins. Two kind of coins were minted; $5 Silver Proof Coin and $2 Cupro-Nickel Proof-Like Coin. The $5 Silver Proof coin is in a unique heart shape, first heart shape coin by Singapore Mint. The Singapore 47 years Independence coin design is bright and cheerful, a reflection of the celebratory mood on National Day. Inspired from the 2012 National Day Parade (NDP) theme, ‘Loving Singapore, Our Home'. It features a group of lively children from the four main ethnic backgrounds coming together to rejoice Singapore 47th birthday at The Float @ Marina Bay, the venue of this year’s NDP celebrations. The coins will be issued on 3 August 2012.
On the reverse show children from the four main ethnic backgrounds rejoicing at The Float @ Marina Bay, the venue of NDP celebrations this year. The number ‘47’ is stylised as a folded ribbon at the left side of the coin.
On the obverse of the coin bears the Singapore Arms with the year-date 2012.
