The Encyclopedia of Dry Rubber Export Coupons Malaya Ceylon & Netherlands East Indies 1922-1942 is written by Saran Singh and published by Kelab Warisan Numismatik Malaysia (KWN). The hardcover book not only share information about Dry Rubber Export Coupons but also Loan Bonds, Share Certificate & Petrol Ration Coupons.

First of all, congratulations to Master Sifu Saran Singh for his new book, it is a must have book for all Malaysian Numismatist because these Coupons, Bonds & Share Certificate are history of Malaysia and it is the best written Dry Rubber Export Coupons book.

Rubber Coupons

The 2nd edition encyclopedia starts with a brief introduction about Rubber industry in Malaya, Ceylon & Netherlands East Indies. The rubber industry in Malaya started by Henry Nicholas Ridley and the earliest rubber estate in Malaya is the Bukit Lintang Rubber Estate established in 1896 in Malacca. Interestingly, Saran Singh's father, Dhan Singh is one of the person who established The Guru Nanak Estate in Batu Sembilan, Ulu Langat, Selangor in 1910.

This is followed by discussions about how Rubber Export Coupons were introduced by The British Government under the "Stevenson Plan" commenced on the 1st November, 1922. The Committee final decision was to restrict the export of raw rubber sheet from all British possesions (Ceylon & Malaya). Under the plan, coupons stipulating a weight of rubber were to be issued. The design and printing of Malaya Dry Rubber Export Coupons done by the Survey Department, Federated Malaya States at it's premises in Java Street (Jalan Mountbatten) or later known as Jalan Tun Perak.

The book also share a list of people associated with the Rubber industry in Malaya, this includes Controllers of Rubber, Directors of the Rubber Research Institute of Malaya (RRIM) and Surveyor General in Survey Department. The book introduction end with "The Story of Rubber in Photograph", a collection of black and white pictures of how the Rubber plantation look like during those days.

The book then continues with a list of Dry Rubber Export Coupons, Loan Bonds, Share Certificate & Petrol Ration Coupons.
