A proof set of Malaysian coins — presented to long serving officials of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) security staff, Encik Abu Bakar Bin Mat Daud — could sell for as much as SGD$20,000 when it headlines Collectibles Auction Asia 7/2016 Auction Apr. 23 in Victoria Street, Singapore.

Written inside the box "ENCIK ABU BAKAR BIN MAT DAUD", "PEMBANTU KESELAMATAN, BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA", "Bagi menghargai perkhidmatan tuan mulai 1 April, 1969 hingga 1 Julai, 1984 daripada Gabenor dan Ahli-ahli Lembaga Pengarah Bank Negara Malaysia".

"ENCIK ABU BAKAR BIN MAT DAUD", "SECURITY ASSISTANT, BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA", "In appreciation of your service from April 1, 1969 to July 1, 1984 from the Governor and members of the Board of Directors of Bank Negara Malaysia".

The proof set contains:
  • 1967 1 sen copper.
  • 1967 5, 10, 20 & 50 sen Cupro Nickel Proof.
  • 1969 $1 Silver Proof, 10th Anniv of Bank Negara Malaysia commemorative.
  • 1971 $1 Cupro Nickel Proof Parliament House.
  • 1971 $5 Cupro Nickel Proof Parliament House.
  • 1971 RM 100 Gold proof, Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman commemorative (very rare).
  • 1972, $1 Cupro Nickel KL City Commemorative.

Bidding price for lot 326 start at SGD10,000. At the moment, only 5 complete sets known. There is no other information how much the sets has been awarded to BNM Staff.

Topping the Malaysia circulation coins for the auction is The highest grade 50 sen 1969 Milled Edge (w/o Security Edge) PCGS MS 66. As of 12 April 2016, none have been certified finer by either Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) or Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS), the second best 50 sen 1969 Milled Edge is a NGC MS65.

 $1 Copper 100th Anniversary of Natural Rubber

A Malaysia 1977 $1 Copper 100th Anniversary of Natural Rubber Proof coin, possibly a trial specimen/pattern is one of the highlight for Collectibles Auction Asia 7/2016 Auction. The rare $1 Copper weight: 21.85gm (normal: 16.80gm); thickness: 2.92mm (normal: 2.50mm); diameter: 33.30mm (normal: 33.40mm).
