Patani tin pitis coins catalog

Congratulations to my numismatic friend, Rusdi Jusoh for the launching of his 1st book "Katalog Pitis Timah Patani" (Patani tin pitis/keping coins catalog) on December 9th. The 45 pages book in pdf format is free for anyone who are interested in Patani Pitis or keping coins. The book is written in Malay.

Patani pitis

What I like about this book is how Mr. Rusdi Jusoh present and explain how we can easily identify the patani coins using a pictorial information. For someone who own some Pitis/keping coins and have little knowledge about the coin, I can easily understand what I need to look for to identify my coins. If the head menu color change to green from gray, that mean the coin have that characteristic.

The book is writen 100% in Malay language without any second language. If you don't understand Malay, this book might not be a good use for you.

Only 30 Patani tin coins are in the book. As the name of this book "catalog", the writer add the coin catalog number on each of the coins as PAT and also catalog number from Saran Singh Encyclopedia of the coins of Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei book.

messy book

The only thing I don't like is the over crowded pages and unnecessary ads for his blogspot. It might be normal for other free pdf book to do that but for a coin book, it looks messy and it disturbs the reader views. He don't need to worried that people don't know about his blog url since many readers of all races in Malaysia already knew about his blog. In my opinion, one original coin picture is enough on each page to make it a more neater book. The large coin picture should not be included. The picture and information for the weight and diameter will be better in smaller size or just throw it away since the information are already included on the "Rujukan Pantas" section. On the "Rujukan Pantas" section, the title header should be shown in the new page instead only on the 1st page.

Some of my friends also suggest if he can include the coin price in the future. They also suggest him to make a printed version of his book upon request by buyer. It will help him on the cost to make reasearch for his future books and perhaps less ads for the books.

The 1st edition of the digital book cover Patani (historical region located in northern part of the Malay peninsula or the southern Thai provinces) tin coins that had been used between 1840 until 1897. This book is presented in the form of pictorial information, you can see the information on the coins from the pictures provided.
