2014 Snowy Owl Pure Gold One Kilogram Coin

Royal Canadian mint has released a Pure Gold One Kilogram Coin - Snowy Owl, The first in a 3-coin annual series celebrating the striking eyes of Canadian wildlife. The gold coin was designed by Canadian artist Arnold Nogy and features a close-up portrait of the snowy owl's facial features. Translucent sparkling and black enamel gives added depth to the owl's eyes, in contrast to the lightly frosted feathers around its head.

On reverses of the coins, the eyes of the snowy owl are in translucent and black enamel. The obverse show an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, by Susanna Blunt, surrounded by the inscriptions of "2014," "ELIZABETH II," "D G REGINA" and the legal tender face value of "2500 DOLLARS".
