Gilded Fiji Double Taku 1oz Silver Coin

Recently, New Zealand Mint has launch a new Silver Gold Gilded coin, Gilded Fiji Double Taku 1oz Silver Coin. The coin commemorate one of the most unique and rare animals in the South Pacific, The Hawksbill Turtle or known as 'Taku' in Fiji. The coin is struck in .999 Silver Gold Gilded Proof with only no more than 5,000 pieces will be issued by New Zealand Mint. Marine turtles have traveled the sea for over 100 Million years. Today, six of the seven species of marine turtles are listed as endangered or critically endangered. Hawksbill Turtles are commonly observed on coral reefs where they feed on Sponges, Seagrass, Ascidians and Soft Corals. A thousand Hawksbills are thought to nest in the Pacific Ocean, which includes a Fijian breeding population of 120-150. The estimated numbers of adult Hawksbill Turtles for Fiji is estimated at 2-3,000.

The reverse features a gold gilded Taku and baby with a stylized shell pattern swimming through the waters of the Pacific Ocean along with an engraved heading and the coin's metal quality and weight.

Queen Elizabeth II

The obverse of the coin features the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, sovereign of the Commonwealth and Fiji.

The coin comes encapsulated in a striking cylindrical display case with a transparent lid filled with aquamarine liquid.
