Corazon "Cory" Aquino memorabilia coin

A great leader Maria Corazon "Cory" Sumulong Cojuangco Aquino died of cardiorespiratory arrest after complications of colon cancer at the age of 76 on August 1, 2009, at the Makati Medical Center. Aquino was diagnosed with the disease in March 2008 but kept up public appearances in 2009. Corazon Aquino was the 11th President of the Philippines and the "Mother of Democracy", serving from 1986 to 1992. She was the first female president of the Philippines and the first female president of any country in Asia.

Aquino was married to Senator Benigno Aquino, Jr., a leading figure in the political opposition against the autocratic rule of President Ferdinand Marcos. After her husband was assassinated upon his return from exile in the United States on August 21, 1983, Aquino, who had no prior political experience, became a focal point and unifying force of the opposition against Marcos. She was drafted to run against Marcos in the 1986 snap presidential elections. After Marcos was proclaimed the winner despite widespread reports of electoral fraud, Aquino was installed as President by the peaceful 1986 People Power Revolution.  It is sometimes referred to as the Yellow Revolution due to the presence of yellow ribbons during the arrival of Ninoy Aquino.

The death of former Philippine President Corazon "Cory" Aquino, make Cory memorabilia a hot item in online market in Philippines. Some of the Memorabilia on auction in eBay including People Power T-shirts, a "Cory Aquino for President" badge, Heritage Art Center's collection of "Cory comics" and limited edition Cory doll. I am more interested on looking for Cory memorabilia coin, People Power Commemorative Coin and Cory Aquino Washington Visit 1986 Silver Proof.

A very proud moment for all freedom-loving Filipinos. This coin also known as the "Cory-Reagan Coin" in silver. (There is a P2,500 gold version of this coin, commemorating the same event.)
