On 27 March 2014, Spink Sets New World Record for the most expensive British silver coin when the finest known example of the Silver Reddite sold for a record price £396,000 (including premium).

The bidding war for the extremely rare and remarkable silver Crown are between two telephone bidders. The Bidding ended when Auctioneer, Spink Coin Specialist Richard Bishop, struck the gavel to declare a staggering realised price of £396,000 (USD658,587).

Met with spontaneous applause, the result tripled its original estimate of £100,000-£120,000, affirming Spink's highly regarded reputation in the numismatic sector.

The Reddite beautifully showcases the skill of its engraver, Thomas Simon, the finest medallist and seal engraver of the time.

The Crown struck for exhibition to Charles II in 1663 to demonstrate Thomas Simon skill.

The crown obverse show portraits of Charles II struck in high relief with Simon's signature underneath.
