Today, the Perth Mint has released two coins from Star Trek The Original Series; Captain James T. Kirk and the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701. The 1oz 99.9% pure silver proof coins are sold as individual coin and two coin set. Each set is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
The ten-coin series features some of the most recognisable and loved Captains from Star Trek The Original Series, Star Trek The Next Generation, Star Trek Deep Space Nine, Star Trek Voyager, and Star Trek Enterprise. There are five Captain coins and five starship or space station coins to collect in this series. Each of the ten coins are issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu.
Captain James T. Kirk coin reverse portrays a colour image of William Shatner as Captain James Tiberius Kirk as he appeared in Star Trek, against a representation of the U.S.S. Enterprise and the inscription CAPTAIN JAMES T. KIRK. The design also includes The Perth Mint's traditional ‘P' mintmark, and the coin's weight and fineness.
U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 coin reverse is representative of the United Federation of Planets' logo and portrays a colour image of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 flying through space as it appeared in the original Star Trek television series. The design includes the inscription STAR TREK THE ORIGINAL SERIES U.S.S. ENTERPRISE NCC-1701, The Perth Mint's traditional ‘P' mintmark, and the coin's weight and fineness.
Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, and packaged in special Star Trek themed packaging, accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
