MNS Auction 166 on 25 March 2018

Malaysia Numismatic Society (MNS) will held their latest auction MNS Auction 166 on 25 March 2018 (Sunday) at Jabatan Muzium, Muzium Negara, Jalan Petalawati, Kuala Lumpur. Auction will start at 11.30 am and auction preview at 11.00 am.

For your information, MNS held their last auction on 20th December 2015. This is their first Auction after Missing in Action for over 2 years.

The main highlight for MNS Auction 166 is a 3rd Series Super solid 2's 50 Ringgit banknote signed by Ismail Ali prefix B/22 222222 graded PMG 64 by Paper Money Grading. Reserve price for lot 63 start at RM88,000. The Super Solid 2's 50 Ringgit banknote sold in Singapore CAA Auction No.7/2016 (23-4-2016) for S$25,000.

Mr. Wong Hon Sum collection of Malay Sultanate Coins will be in Lot 1 - Lot 9. A complete piece of Johor Empire 18th Century Fish Tin Money (Lot 7) will be offered at RM2,500 reserve price. An unlisted Kedah/Perlis gold Kupang Obv. "Sultan Rija" Rev. "Dewa Shah" (Lot 3) in GVF condition will be offered at RM1,800 reserve price.

• Lot 15: 1 sen 1976 Parliament Series (bronze) less than 100 pieces known to exist. NGC MS63RB. Reserve Price RM1,900.
• Lot 27: Coins of North Malaya by William Shaw and Mohd Kassim Haji Ali, Muzium Negara, Kuala Lumpur. Reserve Price RM50.
• Lot 29: The Catalogue of Malaysia Singapore and Brunei Coins 1700 - 1974 Compiled by Saran Singh (1st publication of Malaysia Numismatic Society). Reserve Price RM100.
• Lot 30: Standard Catalogue of Coins & Banknotes of Malaysia, Singapore & Brunei 1700 - 1976 (Malaysia Numismatic Society Publication). Reserve Price RM500.
• Lot 37: Straits Settlements 5 Dollars King George V banknote prefix A/7 07303. PMG 40. Reserve Price RM13,000.
• Lot 42: Japanese Invasion Money (JIM) Netherlands East Indies Uncut Sheet of 12. PMG 55. Reserve Price RM3,000.
• Lot 44: 5 Piculs 1942 Malaya Rubber Coupon-Federated Malaya States 31st March 1942. PMG 63. Reserve Price RM2,500.
• Lot 48: $1,000 Japanese Invasion Money (JIM) "Post War Calendar" Block MU OVPT. PMG 64. Reserve Price RM8,000.
• Lot 62: Malaysia 10 Ringgit 3rd Series Solid 1's Sign Ismail Ali prefix E/91 111111. AU - UNC. Reserve Price RM2,250.
• Lot 69: 2 Malaysia 1 Ringgit 6th Series Solid 5's Sign Jaffar Hussien. Prefix FC5555555 & FD5555555. PMG 64 & PMG 66 EPQ. Reserve Price RM8,000.
• Lot 74: Malaysia 1000 Ringgit 6th Series Replacement Sign Jaffar Hussien. Prefix ZZ0001355. PMG 66 EPQ. Reserve Price RM10,000.
• Lot 75: Malaysia 100 Ringgit 8th Series Solid 7's Sign Ahmad Don prefix AE 7777777. PMG 64. Reserve Price RM13,000.

Members are required to register their names before the auction. A bid number will be allotted to those who have registered and they are required to use this number for bidding. At the end of the auction, invoices will be issued to successful bidders and payment has to be made to the Treasurer before taking possession of the items.

Items purchased will be sent to buyers by registered air or surface mail. Insurance is available at 4% of the total value of the parcel and must be borne by the buyers if required. Overseas mail bidders are required to pay by Bank Draft or International Money Order to the Society.

There is no Buyer Premium for MNS Auction but you need to register as a MNS members to bid in their auction. Registration will be open before the auction started.

All items as listed are genuine and authenticated to the best of the committee’s ability. Prices realized will be published on the next regular bulletin.
