Fiji new currency pictures & video

On Wednesday 2012, the President of the Republic of Fiji Island Ratu Epeli Nailatikau officially launched Fiji's new Flora & Fauna Currency Series at the in Novotel Convention Centre in Lami. The design subjects range from the birds of Kadavu to the high misted forests of Taveuni, to a truly unique insect, to iconic flowers, and to marine species found in highland streams and in our oceans. The Bank first started work on these new currency series when they celebrated the Year of Biodiversity in 2010.

Reserve Bank of Fiji will produced a limited edition all-denomination set of coloured coins. This is a one-of-a-kind coin set depicting the flora and fauna designs in their natural colours on the front of each coin. Specially packaged uncirculated coin sets will also be available for those who just want to own a piece of history.

For the notes, collectors can either buy specially packaged individual denominations or the full set with matching serial numbers. Uncut banknote sheets of 20 notes and 25 notes will also be available.
