When Sa-Ribu Ringgit banknote issued by BNM?

Do you know, when is Malaysia $1,000 Ringgit banknote issued by Bank Negara Malaysia for the 1st time? The 1st series Sa-Ribu Ringgit is one of the scarce item in Malaysia numismatic market. The market price for a high grade Sa-Ribu note allows you to buy imported cars in cash.

The Sa-Ribu Ringgit banknote released to the public by Bank Negara on Monday 2nd September 1968, a year after the ringgit was introduced on 12 June 1967.

"$1,000 note— out on Monday:
A THOUSAND of these notes-tobe issued by Bank Negara on Monday-will make you a millionaire. The $1,000 note is violet and greyish green in colour and measures six and - a - three - quarter inches by four inches.
It has on the right-hand side a portrait of the first Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Rahman ibni Al-Marhum Tuanku Muhammad. On the left there is a watermark of a tiger's head.
The metallic security thread, which appears vertically on each note, is sited slightly to the right of the note's centre when viewed from the front. The back of the note features a view of Parliament House. On the top left-hand corner there is the Bank Negara Malaysia crest and intricate multi-coloured geometrical pattern.
The note bears the signature of the Governor of Bank Negara, Tan Sri Ismail Ali.
The $1,000 notes will be issued from the branch offices of Bank Negara Malaysia at Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johore Bharu, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching, and at the offices of commercial banks in these centres.
They will be available at all banks throughout the country shortly afterwards.
A Bank Negara spokeman today said the new notes circulating in the country on August 15 amounted to $744,807,047."
