2016 Russia-ASEAN summit coin issued

The Bank of Russia has issued memorable coins with the three ruble denomination, dedicate to the 2016 Russia-ASEAN summit to be staged this May in Sochi. The summit will be dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the establishment of a dialogue partnership between Russia and the Southeast Asian grouping.

The coin obverse show the relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation, over it – the semicircular inscription along the rim: "РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ" (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), framed on both sides by doubled rhombuses, below under the coat of arms: to the left – indications of the precious metal and its fineness, to the right – the fine metal content and the mint trade mark, on bottom in the centre, in three lines – the inscription: "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coin: "3 РУБЛЯ" (3 RUBLES), the year of issue: "2016 г." (2016).

The first ASEAN — Russia Summit took place in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) on 13 December 2005. ASEAN made a decision on its convocation at association's 10th Summit held in Laos in November 2004.

Participants in the summit discussed a broad range of economic and political cooperation issues. They also reviewed urgent international and regional issues, including North Korea's nuclear programme, developments in Iraq and Afghanistan, settlement in the Middle East and UN reform.
