Old News-Launch of Endangered Marine Animals & Reptile

In 2006, Bank Negara Malaysia issued the third 'Endangered Species' coin series which carries the theme "Endangered Marine Animals and Reptiles". The coin series launched at the Aquaria KLCC in Kuala Lumpur with a divers holding up a mock commemorative coin, which depicts a turtle on its face.

This series is of part of the Coins in Education (CIE) Program, an initiative of Bank Negara Malaysia to create public awareness of the species of endangered animals and birds in Malaysia . This series is issued following the success of the previous two 'Endangered Species' series with the themes 'Land Animals' and 'Birds'.

The first two issues of this coin series, featuring the Green Turtle and the Hawksbill Turtle, are released on 8 May 2006.
