China 1st aircraft carrier Liaoning coin

On 28 December 2012, The People's Bank of China has release gold and silver commemorative coins celebrating the country's first aircraft carrier, the Liaoning. The Liaoning was delivered and commissioned to the People's Liberation Army Navy on 25 September 2012. A plane was successfully landed on the carrier in November.

Two gold and two silver coins are minted to celebrate China historic event; 100 & 2000 Yuan gold coins and 10 yuan & 300 yuan silver coins.

The obverse design, identical for all four coins, depicts the national emblem of the People's Republic of China along with the date of 2012. The designs on the reverse sides of all four coins include Chinese characters that translate to "The Chinese Navy's first aircraft carrier Liaoning," as well as the carrier's date of delivery and the face value of the coin. The coins are officially legal tender in People's Republic of China.
